Of the 12 Missouri providers we reviewed in 2026, 6 published full pricing online. Pricing genuinely varies by weight and service — but the result is that you often do not know what you will pay until you are already on the phone.
A 10-pound cat and a 90-pound dog do not cost the same to cremate — a heavier body takes longer in the chamber and burns more fuel. Most providers use two to four weight tiers, and the spread between the low and high tier on the same service commonly runs $100–$300.
Nationally only 18% of the 1,224 providers in our review publish full pricing. Missouri runs at 50%. That means you can genuinely compare in advance here, which is the single biggest advantage a pet owner can have in this market. Look up two before you phone one.
Vet clinics often bundle cremation into the euthanasia invoice. It is genuinely convenient at a moment when arranging it yourself is close to unthinkable — but it sometimes carries a markup, and you are free to arrange your own provider instead.

Pet cremation coverage across St. Louis County.
Missouri law treats cremation as a disposal method rather than a consumer service, so the written all-in quote is doing the work no statute does. St. Louis pet cremation pricing is not standardised — but it is not a mystery either. Plan from what is real, and reach the provider we would trust with our own pet when you are ready.
Connect with our trusted St. Louis providerAmong Missouri providers that publish pricing, private (individual) cremation clusters around a median of $225–$295, with the full published range running $60–$400. Communal cremation, where ashes are not returned, runs lower — $30–$200 published. Price tracks your pet's weight most of all. Always ask for the all-in total in writing, including pickup and the urn.
In our 2026 review of 12 Missouri providers, 6 — 50% — published full pricing, and 33% published none at all. Pricing genuinely varies by weight and service type, which is part of the reason. But the effect is that you often cannot compare before you engage.
No, and there is no Missouri pet-cremation consumer law. Under RSMo 269.020, incineration is one of the lawful ways to dispose of a dead animal, and cremation is a form of incineration — so the statute treats it as a disposal method rather than as a consumer service with standards attached. There is no state agency verifying that a private cremation happened as described.
It is available but uncommon — 2 of the 12 Missouri providers we reviewed offer aquamation, about 17%. Aquamation is a gentler water-based alternative to flame cremation. It is not reliably cheaper; nationally our medians for the two overlap.
Generally yes. Missouri's RSMo 269.020 names burial among the lawful disposal methods for a dead animal, though the detailed conditions that matter to you sit in city and county ordinance rather than in the statute. Check St. Louis City or County rules depending on your address, keep the grave clear of wells and watercourses, and bury deep enough to deter wildlife.
This trips people up more here than almost anywhere, because St. Louis City is an independent city — it is not part of St. Louis County at all. The two have separate governments and separate ordinances. If your address is inside the city limits, county rules do not apply to you, and vice versa. Since Missouri leaves the detailed backyard-burial conditions to local government rather than setting them in RSMo 269.020, checking the correct one of the two is the whole exercise.
Unusually good, yes. Half of Missouri providers publish full pricing — 6 of 12 — against 18% nationally, and three are based in St. Louis itself. That combination is rare: you can look up real numbers before you call anyone, then use them as an anchor. In most of the markets we cover you would be phoning blind.
