Your pet is the only one in the chamber, and the ashes returned belong to your pet alone. Most Peoria families choose this when they plan to keep their pet’s ashes.

Of the 61 Illinois providers we reviewed in 2026, 15 published full pricing online. Pricing genuinely varies by weight and service — but the result is that you do not know what you will pay until you are already on the phone, on the worst day of your year.
A 10-pound cat and a 90-pound dog do not cost the same to cremate — a heavier body takes longer in the chamber and burns more fuel. Most providers use two to four weight tiers, and the spread between the low and high tier on the same service commonly runs $100–$300.
Under the Companion Animal Cremation Act, a Peoria provider must give you a written explanation of services before starting, and a signed certification when the ashes come back. Most owners never know to ask. Asking costs nothing and tells you immediately whether a provider knows their own obligations.
Vet clinics often bundle cremation into the euthanasia invoice. It is genuinely convenient at a moment when arranging it yourself is close to unthinkable — but it sometimes carries a markup, and you are free to arrange your own provider instead.

Ask for the written explanation of services up front and the signed certification on return — both are your right under 815 ILCS 318, not a favour. Peoria pet cremation pricing is not standardised — but it is not a mystery either. Plan from what is real, and reach the provider we would trust with our own pet when you are ready.
Connect with our trusted Peoria providerAmong Illinois providers that publish pricing, private (individual) cremation clusters around a median of $201–$305, with the full published range running $60–$700. Communal cremation, where ashes are not returned, runs lower — $60–$350 published. Price tracks your pet's weight most of all. Always ask for the all-in total in writing, including pickup and the urn.
Because they are not required to. In our 2026 review of 61 Illinois providers, 15 — 25% — published full pricing, and 67% published none at all. Pricing genuinely varies by weight and service type, which is part of the reason. But the effect is that you cannot compare before you engage.
Yes, and unusually well. The Companion Animal Cremation Act (815 ILCS 318) gives you two concrete rights. Before services begin, a provider must give you a written explanation of services describing what you are buying. And whenever your pet's ashes are returned, the law requires a signed certification stating that the cremation was carried out as described. These are enforceable: a false or misleading written explanation, a knowing failure to provide one, or a knowingly false certification is a business offense the Illinois Attorney General can pursue, with fines starting above $1,000.
Private (individual) cremation means your pet is cremated alone and the ashes come back to you. Communal means several pets are cremated together and no ashes are returned, which is why it costs less. If getting your own pet's ashes back matters, you need private — and it is worth confirming in writing that private means a truly individual chamber.
It is available but uncommon — 8 of the 61 Illinois providers we reviewed offer aquamation, about 13%. Aquamation is a gentler water-based alternative to flame cremation. It is not reliably cheaper; nationally our medians for the two overlap.
Yes, and Illinois is clearer than most states about the conditions. Under 8 Ill. Admin. Code 90.110 you should cover the animal with at least six inches of compacted soil, and keep the grave 200 or more feet from any stream, well, water source, or a residence that is not your own. That is a genuine statewide standard rather than a local patchwork, though city ordinance can still add to it.
